Long-distance travelling in Europe 

We’ve already had this yesterday. 

Travelling by train is one of my favourite subjects. And since I am still on holiday, I would like to keep this story short and emphasize the topic with two video recommendations.

Go on. 

There is this wonderful Youtube channel called Railway explained. It is run by three guys with master's degrees in railway engineering and practical experience in railways. They are really, really good at explaining. 

What should I watch?

Due to our topic of long-distance travelling in Europe, I would like to recommend two videos:

• EUROPEAN RAILWAYS: Two Centuries of Existence in 15 Minutes! It is about the past and present with a focus on the railway reforms by the European Union starting in the 1990s (very well explained!).

• TEE 2.0: The Future of the European Passenger Rail Transport. The video is about resurrecting an old idea. Once, the Trans-Europe Express connected 130 cities throughout Europe. This was before the great decline of the railway. From 2025 a new generation of TEEs is supposed to connect big cities of Europe at regular intervals.

The Upside

The conditions for the successful expansion of the European long-distance train journeys are much better than in previous decades. The rail network is better and more compatible.
